Some time ago I heard the term “new green” from a priest, as he was gaving his homily. He used it to refer to the possibility of finding a rebirth to a new life. Perhaps that touched me but I do not remember what else he said.
It is not my purpose to make this comment a doctrinal example, I mentioned it because it seems correct to refer to how the term came to me, because after what I was thinking I found something I’d like to share with you.
The green, like color, can be found in plants and trees, which is presenting as new leaves or branches. If you remember, the shade of green is different, it is “new” lighter, brighter, cleaner, “just born”.
Green is itself a range of intensities, and green again is a different strength, the color is renewed, as our thoughts and attitudes should be, but not our ideals, it is good to change them, but for flexibility not for instability.
The new green refers to a new spirit, yes, the same trunk, the same branch, the same tree, the same person but with a renewed excitement, strength, and temperance. A constant renewal, in which we change every day to grow.
But it is not expected to “rain on us” or “watered us”, to do so we must find and choose better what feeds our mind and spirit, what goes into our body, our eyes and ears, and what our heart receives.
It is important that our minds have a variety of colors, our thinking is capable of being a rainbow, because we reflect it, not because the days are gray, our hearts, minds, ideals or dreams have to be dull.
If our utopias have no color, it is best to give them a special meaning with a color that means possibility, novelty, innovation, evolution. That’s what I want in my life: new green, a color that I wish you get when you need it the most.
